bounce was created to offer a sustainable and user-centric redesign of single-use plastic tennis cans. the project aims to enhance user engagement, encourage personal connection, and promote environmental sustainability.
the concept behind bounce is to design a set of five tennis cans inspired by different tennis “shots” and major tournaments. the cans are made from a sturdy paper base while taking inspiration from the shape of a tennis racquet. users are encouraged to choose the can that resonates with them, creating a personal connection to their playing style.
each of the five tennis cans in the bounce collection represents a different tennis shot, including the “killer serve,” “fire forehand,” “raging topspin,” “ripper dropshot,” and “hasty tweener.” the labels on the cans predispose users to believe that their chosen can improve their corresponding shot. additionally, the design of each can is inspired by major tennis tournaments like the US Open, French Open, Wimbledon, etc. the language, copy, and even the type of court depicted on the cans align with the specific tournament, creating a unique thematic treatment.

the exterior of the cans are completely re-usable, made from 100% canvas fabric that can be repurposed on-court as a sweatband, offering a multi-functional approach to traditional packaging.
to prioritize sustainability, the tennis cans are made from a recyclable paper instead of single-use plastic. furthermore, the exterior of the cans is constructed from canvas fabric, allowing it to be easily removed and repurposed as a sweatband. this multi-functional approach adds value to the packaging, encouraging users to collect the cans and utilize them during their time on the court. Bounce aims to revolutionize the design of tennis cans by combining sustainability, personalization, and thematic elements. the redesign enhances user experience, promotes environmental consciousness, and adds value beyond just packaging, making it an engaging and eco-friendly choice for tennis players of all levels.
